The “fresh oil” under consideration is never the same. They are interrelated yet distinct. God wants the eyes of our understanding to be enlightened; hence it is expedient for us to know what Christ came to save us into.
The Bible cautioned us to guard our hearts with all diligence because out of it are the issues of life. The heart is generally understood to mean all the affections and passions. God is more than ready to change the whole of your infected nature and renew your appetites and passions.
That is renewed by the Spirit and grace of God; in which a new principle of life is put; new light is infused; a new will, filled with new purposes and resolutions; where new affections are placed, and new desires are formed; and where there are new delights and joys.
